Plant description:

Indian gooseberry(Phyllanthus Emblica ) is a deciduous tropical tree, monoecious, grows to the height up to 18 meters tall, leaves are small, green, oppositely arranged, flowers are greenish-yellow flowering is March to May, fruits are fleshy, pale green, globose and single-seeded, a drupe, globose, 1 to 1.3 cm in diameter.Useful plant parts: Seed, fruit, leaves, bark, the root and flowers.It is an effective natural remedy for curing many diseases. It can cure Rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, some types of cancer, age-related renal disease, eyes disorder, diabetes, indigestion, heartburn, balance Vata, pita, and Kapha. It is one of Triphala group.
Chemical content: Ascorbic acid, flavonoids, kaempferol, ellegic acid.

Indian garcinia- കുടംപുളി

Scientific name-Garcinia gummi-gutta 

English: Brindleberry, Malabar tamarind, pot tamarind
Hindi: Bilathy Amly बिलाति अंलि
Malayalam: Kudampuly

Plant description:

Indian garcinia or Pot tamarind tropical tree grows up to 12 m tall. Leaves are simple, opposite, petiole 5 to 1.6 cm long, elliptic, tapered to apex, trunk and bark are reddish brown color and with yellowish sticky latex, flowers are borne in axillary as clusters, calyx cream and petals pink. Fruits or berries resembled with pumpkin and pale green to yellow when ripe, globose, 6 to 8 grooved, 5 cm in diameter and many seeded. Dried fruits except seeds are the useful part.

Plant description

It  is an annual climber vine, spreading over trees, fences, etc., commonly found in tropical forest areas, plane lands, Western Ghats area, etc., the leaves are dark green, hairy, ovate or heart-shaped, about 4 to 10 cm in diameter. Flowers are small, dioecious (both female and male in a plant), light green in color, found in clusters  in the  leaf axis. The fruits are berries, many, small and round, born in clusters, green in color turns to red when ripe.

Medicinal uses: 

To treat rheumatic disorders, coughing and cold, to increase breast milk, urinary disorders, to treat cobra bite, anti-malarial. It is an important herb in feminine diseases like uterine hemorrhages, miscarriage, urogenital disorders  etc.

Flowers are small and white or yellowish or greenish yellow, fruits or berries are globular and turn red when ripe.

Adamant creeper or Bonesetter plant is mainly used in the treatment of bone-related problems in Ayurveda, such as heal broken bones, injured ligaments, and tendons, and used in the treatments of hemorrhoid, and to treat vitiated Vata and  Kapha disorders.

Plant description:

Bonesetter is an edible stemmed plant, cactus type herb grows up to 2 m in length with the help of tendrils,  and square shaped branches with interns nodes, up to 10 cm long. Leaves are arranged alternately, heart-shaped, reniform, margin entire, and sometimes toothed, tri-lobed and 5 cm. long, which appear at the nodes. Arrowleaf Sida is an important herbal plant in Ayurveda, it is used as an ingredient of in many of Ayurvedic medicines for the rheumatic complaints. The root of this plant is the useful part is used to  treat Vata, pitta, pain, asthma, bronchitis and urinary problem.
Plant description:
Arrowleaf sida is a small, long-lived shrub or woody herb, with erect stems usually growing up to 120 centimeters tall, usually found in roadsides and rocky areas as a weed. Its stems are slender, rather woody, with a tough stringy bark. The leaves are often diamond-shaped with toothed margins, long up to 1.5 inches, and arranged oppositely. Flowers are five petals, which are approximate 4 to 7 mm long, creamy or orange-yellow in color. It is small fruit separate into 8-12 one-seeded segments when mature.
